ABOUT US
At Stone Equine, we believe successful breeding programs are built on more than facilities and technology alone. They are built on experience, attention to detail, thoughtful management, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of every horse entrusted to our care.
Located on a premier 40-acre facility in Timmonsville—formerly home to Palmetto Arabians—Stone Equine combines decades of practical breeding knowledge with modern reproductive technology to provide exceptional care for mares, foals, and stallions alike.
Leading Stone Equine is Sarah Stone (née O’Brien), whose career has been deeply rooted in the management and development of some of the Arabian horse industry’s most respected breeding programs. Prior to establishing Stone Equine, Sarah served as Farm Manager for Palmetto Arabians, the renowned breeding operation of Frank Chisholm. During her tenure, she oversaw daily farm operations, reproductive management, foaling services, and stallion programs while helping maintain the standard of excellence for which the farm became known throughout the Arabian horse community.
Sarah’s experience includes managing and promoting an exceptional roster of breeding stallions, including Sundance Kid V, Always A Jullyen V, SF Sir Real, and PA Phoenix Kid. Working alongside some of the industry’s most accomplished breeders and horsemen provided invaluable experience in every aspect of equine reproduction, breeding management, foaling care, and stallion services. Today, that same knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail form the foundation of Stone Equine.
Our full-service facility was thoughtfully designed with the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of both mares and stallions in mind. Spacious 12×18 matted foaling stalls provide ample room and comfort for mares and newborn foals during the critical foaling period, while 12×12 matted stalls offer secure and comfortable accommodations throughout the breeding season. Large turnout pastures allow horses the opportunity for daily exercise and natural movement, promoting both physical health and mental wellbeing.
At the heart of Stone Equine is a state-of-the-art breeding laboratory equipped to support a complete range of reproductive services. From routine cycle management and artificial insemination to embryo transfer programs, stallion collection, cooled semen shipping, semen freezing, and long-term reproductive planning, we provide the expertise and resources necessary to help breeders maximize every opportunity for success. Reproduction is a discipline where timing, precision, and experience matter, and we take pride in delivering each with professionalism and consistency.
Foaling season receives the same level of dedication and attention. With 24-hour camera surveillance, advanced foal alert systems, and knowledgeable on-site staff, mares are closely monitored throughout the final stages of pregnancy, providing owners with confidence that their horses are receiving attentive care when it matters most. From the first signs of labor through the critical first hours of a foal’s life, our team is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for both mare and foal.
We also recognize that successful stallion programs require more than simply collecting semen. Proper stallion management requires organization, communication, professionalism, and attention to detail. Whether coordinating collections, shipping cooled semen across the country, freezing genetics for future generations, or supporting mare owners throughout the breeding process, we strive to represent each stallion and breeding program with the highest standards of care and professionalism.
While facilities and technology are important, we believe experience remains the most valuable asset in any breeding program. Knowing when to intervene, when to wait, and how to manage the countless details that influence reproductive success can only be learned through years of hands-on experience.
At Stone Equine, our mission is simple: to combine exceptional facilities, experienced horsemanship, and advanced reproductive services to help breeders protect bloodlines, build breeding programs, and create the next generation of exceptional horses.
From first breeding to first breath, every horse entrusted to us receives the same level of professionalism, attention, and care that has defined Sarah’s career for more than fifteen years.
